The Narrows is the most popular hiking trail in Zion National Park. In fact, it’s not so much of a “trail” as it is a cool, ankle-deep stretch of water! That’s right, almost the entire Narrows hike is in the Virgin River that cuts through Zion Canyon. While the better part of the hike is in ankle-to-knee-deep water, some of the hike will even get waist-deep. But on a hot summer’s day this hike is both exhilarating and refreshing. Anderson Design Group captured some of the wonder of a watery hike in this early-1920s style illustration. This is a Golden Age of Illustration representation of the Zion Canyon and a group of hikers splashing through the clear shallows of the Virgin River.
