America’s history is often best preserved by retaining the historic buildings and places that MADE that history. The people who were a part of the history may be gone, but the places, artifacts, buildings, books, paintings, photographs, and memorials created by those people remain. Located in Bourbon County, Kansas, Fort Scott National Historical Site is an excellent example of one such site. Named after General Winfield Scott, the fort served as a military base for U.S. Army action in what was the edge of American settlement in 1850. For the next quarter century, the fort was used as a supply base and to provide security in turbulent areas during the opening of the West to settlement. Today, the site preserves 20 historic structures, a parade ground, and five acres of restored tall-grass prairie. To celebrate the paths less traveled in national recreation areas (these places receive far fewer visitors than National Parks), Anderson Design Group poster artists hand- rendered an original illustration in the fashion of vintage poster art and travel art. This retro design and original National Park art is available as a poster, print, canvas, mini canvas, metal sign, notecard, or postcard.
