Easily one of the most famous attractions in Great Smoky Mountains National Park, the Appalachian Trail offers adventure, good exercise, and great memories to all who walk along it. The trail was first conceptualized in 1921, completed in 1937. Seventy-one miles of the trail run right through the center of the Great Smokies. Visitors to the park often hike the trail as it curves through the region, offering sweeping views of the mountainous terrain. Kai Carpenter & Anderson Design Group captured a memory of those mountainscapes in this original oil painting. This vintage travel art brings out nostalgia for the early- 1900s in hand-illustrated form, creating a vivid image of an early 20th Century hiker pausing at one of the trail's many outlook points.
