Celebrate America 250 with Commemorative Poster Art! – Anderson Design Group

Anderson Design Group Launches Mini-Series Celebrating America's 250th Birthday

Anderson Design Group Launches Mini-Series Celebrating America's 250th Birthday

A truly momentous occasion is upon us, the 250th Birthday of the United States of America. Known as the Semiquincentennial, the event quite literally means “Semi” (half), “Quin” (five), “Centennial” (100 years). Translation: We are halfway to the 500th Anniversary of the founding of the nation!

The artists at Anderson Design Group could not let the occasion pass without celebrating and commemorating it with original, vintage-style poster art.

New Additions to the American Travel Collection

Back in 2010, our poster art team began creating travel posters of our favorite American cities illustrated in the style of “The Golden Age of Poster Art” (early to mid-20th Century). Since then, we have created over 500 different designs celebrating the history and charm of America’s most beloved cities, natural wonders, and destinations.

Over the years, we have created several mini-series within this collection to celebrate special events and milestones or unique aspects of American landscapes, culture, or history. We created an illustrated college town mini-series, we commemorated the 100th Anniversary of the establishment of Route 66, we made posters of major trail systems across the U.S., we illustrated the most sought-after Alaskan wildlife, and we created a series romanticizing the most iconic skylines across America.

And now, the country we’ve been drawing, sketching, painting, and illustrating for over 30 years is turning 250. Naturally, we had to do another mini series!

The following sections identify the latest additions to our American Travel collection, each with an image of the poster, some text about it, and a link to the dedicated art page.

250th Anniversary USA: Bigfoot

Is it really a birthday party if Bigfoot isn’t a part of it? Bigfoot has always believed in the USA. Too bad we don’t all return the favor! Classic, iconic, and very American, this original Bigfoot illustration celebrates not only the Anniversary but also the beauty of the nation’s most iconic and memorable places, people, and things (we’re putting ole’ Sasquatch in the latter category).

250th Anniversary USA: Celebrate The Midwest

What better way to celebrate America’s Birthday than to give shout-outs to the iconic locations and memorable geographic regions the country is best known for? This original poster art is a tipping of the hat to the Midwest, the undiscovered gem of the nation, and the breadbasket of the country and much of the world. The Midwest is truly the fruited plains of our people, a place where American life is still simple, quiet, peaceful, and rewarding.

250th Anniversary USA: Celebrate The Northeast

Modern-day America has its roots in the Northeast, where Euro-American settlers first traversed the Atlantic Ocean and sought a life in the New World. This region is deep in history and culture, the birthplace of American democracy, the site of the nation’s oldest cities, and the foundation of the country’s most formative industries. This poster celebrates the region’s natural beauty, which is perhaps its best feature and what draws people back to the Northeast again and again.

250th Anniversary USA: Celebrate The Northwest

The Northwest is a beautiful wonderland of mountains, temperate rainforests, lush river valleys, verdant farmland, sweeping plains, inland lakes, Pacific Ocean beaches, and sounds. It is a place where wildlife still roams free, much as it did hundreds of years ago, and the region is a prized natural resource carefully protected through national, state, and local management programs. This original art by Anderson Design Group celebrates the wilderness and wonder of this epic region.

250th Anniversary USA: Celebrate The Rockies

When people think of the Rocky Mountains, their imagination immediately jumps to Rocky Mountain National Park, the gem of Colorado, and a popular tourist destination. But in addition to Colorado, the Rockies are present in Wyoming, Montana, Idaho, New Mexico, and Utah. This region is truly majestic, and since 2026 is the 250th Anniversary of America’s founding, Anderson Design Group’s poster artists and illustrators have commemorated this region and others with a series of patriotic prints in a vintage poster art style. Classic, iconic, and very American, the original travel illustrations celebrate not only the Anniversary but also the beauty of the nation’s most iconic and memorable regions.

250th Anniversary USA: Celebrate The Southeast

Enchanting is the keyword, because the Southeast is rich in both verdant natural beauty and strong American culture. The region has maintained much of its music, art, food, and even linguistic style, making it a beloved travel destination for visitors and a place of great local pride and heritage for those who live there. This poster depicts a freshwater cypress swamp and blossoming flowers, a scene one might find in Congaree National Park in South Carolina.

250th Anniversary USA: Celebrate The Southwest

Home to the Grand Circle of National Parks and Utah’s “Big Five” national parks, the Southwest is probably the least geographically developed region in the U.S. after Alaska. This part of the country is a semi-arid paradise, full of deserts, plains, prairies, mountains, canyons, and incredibly rare rock formations found nowhere else on Earth. Add to it the region’s rich Native American history and frontier ethos, and this part of the country is a place that must be seen to be understood.

250th Anniversary USA: Collage

Can’t decide which American Travel art or State Pride poster to order? Love ’em all? We have the solution for you! Once in a while, we carefully arrange an organized series of our original travel art and poster art into a collage-style design, then size it to fit on any wall and look stunning in a variety of sizes and formats (prints, framed posters, metal signs, canvases). We also turn these beauties into clever notecards and postcards for one-of-a-kind correspondence or small-space decorating. This old-school retro collage of all 50 states is the perfect gift for a travel lover and history buff, featuring the 1776-2026 emblem at the center.

250th Anniversary USA: Liberty Collage (Vertical)

If you were having any trouble at all deciding which print to order to celebrate the Semiquincentennial, we have the perfect solution for you! Featuring original artwork from ADG’s award-winning poster artists, our creative director, Joel Anderson, selected the most popular designs from each of the 50 states and put them together in a retro collage print. This vintage collage poster depicts some of our most American illustrations, from the Statue of Liberty to Route 66, Mt. Rushmore, natural landmarks, historic buildings, and even a few special events in American history, like the moon landing.

250th Anniversary USA: Dive Into the American Dream

Sometimes, the goal is flashy, clever decor that serves as a conversation starter and centerpiece, and that’s what we went for with this “Happy Birthday to the United States of America!” Dive Into the American Dream poster. 2026 is a truly special year, and Anderson Design Group’s poster artists and illustrators are commemorating the event with prints like these that have a vintage, patriotic Americana vibe.

250th Anniversary USA: Lady Liberty

One would be hard-pressed to think of a physical landmark more emblematic of the United States of America than the Statue of Liberty. It is instantly recognizable worldwide and immediately associated with freedom, truth, justice, equality, and democracy. It celebrates the founding principles of the nation, the abolition of slavery, the beacon of light guiding others to the nation’s shores, and the law and order principles upon which the nation is founded. What better way to celebrate the Semiquincentennial than with a limited-edition poster of Lady Liberty?

250th Anniversary USA: Mount Rushmore

This American Birthday is a significant one, because 2026 is the 250th Anniversary of the founding of the United States, and Anderson Design Group’s poster artists and illustrators are commemorating the event with a series of patriotic prints styled in a vintage poster art fashion, like this iconic depiction in vintage art style of Mount Rushmore, an important national landmark. The landmark is significant because it represents four periods of American history, symbolized by the four presidents who saw the nation through those chapters. The landmark is also home to a museum and bookstore where visitors can learn more about the nation’s history, culture, geography, and landmarks.

250th Anniversary USA: Liberty Bell

What better way to celebrate America’s 250th Birthday than with Liberty Bell artwork? The Liberty Bell is an iconic piece of American heritage. As a tangible link to the nation’s founding ideals, the Liberty Bell is on display at Independence National Historical Park. Visitors observe the bell and read its inscription, “Proclaim Liberty throughout all the Land unto all the inhabitants thereof.” The artists of Anderson Design Group created a commemorative illustration featuring the bell and identifying its unique place in American history, now 250 years in the making.

250th Anniversary USA: Commemorative Map

What makes a nation? More than the people, the culture, the language, or even the history, it is the land that truly solidifies the national connections and heritage of nation-states. To celebrate 250 years of America, the artists at Anderson Design Group hand-rendered a special, limited-edition map that features a callout to the Anniversary. Almost every state has at least one small illustration within it that harkens to the significance of that region. The artwork is designed to give people a tangible connection not just to the story of America, but to the country’s physical landscapes and geography, from sea to shining sea.
