American College Towns: Columbia, SC
2014 By Michael Korfhage, Joel Anderson
About the Art
Columbia, South Carolina, second largest city in the state, is home to the University of South Carolina,
a major center for higher education in the American Southeast. This university is also one of the oldest
universities in the United States, originally founded in 1801. In fact, the original building that served
as the university’s first structure still stands to this day, having been preserved for over two centuries.
Lovers of history and brilliant architecture, ADG added Columbia to our mini-series of
American College Towns. This vintage American Travel poster can serve as a beautiful, handmade
keepsake from a trip to the university and town, or it can be a great way to show one’s local pride as
college alumni or Columbia residents. To learn more about what the city has to offer, check out the Columbia Metropolitan Convention & Visitors Bureau.
Enjoy our art outdoors by ordering your favorite designs on metal signs. Our all-weather, rust-resistant signs are ideal for any porch, barn, fence, warehouse, garage, or bar. Featuring gorgeous color printing, they offer a more casual look than canvases or framed prints.
