American College Towns: Starkville, MS
2014 By Michael Korfhage, Joel Anderson
About the Art
Mississippi State University calls Starkville, Mississippi home. Starkville has grown as the university
grew, with much of Starkville’s enterprises relying on and contributing to the university. The city is a
growing hub for cultural activity, with events taking place like the Cotton District Arts Festival, Super
Bulldog Weekend, and Bulldog Bash. To tip our hats to the history of Starkville and the urban
cooperation of university and town, ADG made our own illustration of the historic downtown of the
city. Styled after turn-of-the-century American Travel art, this vintage poster inspires nostalgia of a
time long past, but a pride for our cities and universities that is alive and well today. Purchase this retro
art as a canvas banner, framed print, or metal sign. To learn more about the city, check out the Greater Starkville
Development Partnership.
