Here lies one of the most remote national parks in the world, and one of the only two national parks in the United States located within the Arctic Circle. Kobuk Valley National Park in Alaska is also famous for its herds of Western Arctic caribou, which Indigenous peoples in the region have hunted for thousands of years. As one of the last large animal migrations still carrying on its migratory pattern each year, the herd of almost half a million caribou migrates across the full width of the park, crossing dunes, tundra, and even swimming the Kobuk River. To celebrate the park and the animals that call it home, Anderson Design Group collaborated with master pastel artist Arden von Haeger on this colorful composition. Arden’s classic hand-rendered illustration style conveys grandeur, romance, and nuance. The finished piece is an excellent portrayal of national park art. This colorful and expressive design harkens back to the vintage poster art of the early 20th century.
