Accessibility Statement
Anderson Design Group wants everyone to be able to browse and buy our art, including people who use a screen reader, a keyboard instead of a mouse, voice control, screen magnification or other assistive technology.
Our standard
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA, which includes WCAG 2.1 Level AA. Most of this store meets that standard today. The parts that do not yet are listed below, with ways to get help.
What we have done
- You can use the menus, search, the cart and our Build Your Own builders with a keyboard alone, and a visible outline shows where you are on the page.
- A "Skip to content" link at the top of each page takes you past the menus.
- Pages use headings, landmarks and lists so screen readers can move around them. Each design is announced by its title and artist.
- In the Build Your Own calendar you can reorder and remove months with the keyboard or with buttons, not only by dragging, and each change is announced.
- Pop-up windows such as the mobile menu, search, the image viewer and the Build Your Own preview close with the Escape key and return you to where you were.
- On collection pages, a sort or filter you choose with the keyboard takes effect when you press Enter, so the page does not reload while you look through the options.
- Text and buttons meet color contrast requirements.
- Pages work when zoomed to 400% without scrolling sideways.
- Small controls, such as slideshow dots, are large enough to tap.
- If your device is set to reduce motion, our slideshows and animations stop moving.
How we test
We check every type of page in the store with automated accessibility tools, on desktop and mobile screen sizes, with menus open and with items in the cart. We also test with a keyboard alone and at high zoom. We re-test after changes to the store's design.
Known limitations
- Artwork descriptions. Our designs are identified by title and artist, but most do not have a written description of what the artwork shows. Contact us and we will describe any design for you.
- Older content. Some older product descriptions, collection descriptions and blog posts use colored text that is hard to read or headings that are out of order. We are updating them.
Features provided by other companies
Some parts of the store come from other companies. We report problems we find to them, and we will help you directly if one gets in your way.
- Checkout and payment are provided by Shopify, and by Shop Pay, PayPal, Google Pay or another payment service if you choose one of them. Account sign-in is also provided by Shopify.
- The rewards and wishlist features are provided by Growave.
- The cookie preferences banner is provided by Shopify. Its focus outlines are faint, and until you accept or decline it, it covers part of the bottom of the screen.
- Videos play in YouTube's player.
- Our contact and mailing list forms use Shopify's spam protection, which may ask you to complete a check, and its hidden links can receive keyboard focus. If you cannot, call or email us instead.
