When the mind wants to see a wolf, but the eyes see something else, something sinister and unnatural, what then? Do you run? Or do you stay perfectly still? Such is the feeling of those who have witnessed the Shunka Warakin, a beast of Glacier National Park and the cattle country of Montana. A creature said by the Indigenous Ioway peoples to look like a cross between a wolf and a hyena, there is an eerie, monster-like nature to the beast, a suggestion of dark magic and sinister spirits. Intrigued by the Shunka Warakin, a creature whose Indigenous Ioway name means "carries off dogs," Anderson Design Group poster artists hand-rendered an original illustration of the Shunka Warakin, fashioned after 20th-century vintage poster art created to celebrate America's National Parks and the Indigenous stories behind them. This artwork would make an excellent decor piece or gift and is available as a poster, print, canvas, metal sign, mini-canvas, notecard, or postcard.
