White Sands National Park: Kit Fox By Mary Withers Kirkland, Joel Anderson, 2023
- White Sands National Park: Kit Fox
To say that White Sands National Park is unique almost feels like an understatement. Truly, there is no place like it on Earth. In fact, its unique nature is part of why it became a National Park. Until recently, White Sands was a National Monument, but a 2019 act of Congress further protected the natural region of White Sands by making it into a National Park, preserving the pure white sand which is made of gypsum. The park is also known for its wildlife. For example, the spiky Soap-tree yucca adds contrast and crisp edges to the soft, snowy dunes, and the Chihuahua-sized kit fox is the largest animal that lives in the White Sands dunefield, weighing in at about five pounds. For this National Park art and original illustration, Anderson Design Group was proud to collaborate with talented digital painter Mary Withers Kirkland on a new series on National Parks posters. Mary's unique interpretive stylization amplifies the subtle beauty of White Sands National Park. This classic and original design is available as a poster, print, canvas, metal sign, mini-canvas, notecard, or postcard.
