Called the Palmetto State for the beautiful trees that grow there, South Carolina is a state worth visiting. The region is known for its verdant, almost tropical forests, its sandy beaches, and its abundant wildlife. South Carolina is also an iridescent gem of Southern history and culture. Visitors to the state enjoy small, friendly towns with well-preserved historical buildings, museums, monuments, well-kept city parks, and frequent community events.
