"Rapunzel" is a classic German fairy tale, most famously recorded by the Brothers Grimm, about a girl with magical, long hair who is imprisoned in a tower by a sorceress (Mother Gothel) and is eventually rescued by a prince who climbs her hair to reach her. The story, which involves themes of love, freedom, and deception, has roots in older folktales like the Italian "Petrosinella" and the French "Persinette" and has been adapted many times, most notably by Disney in the film Tangled.
