Published in 1912, British writer Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s book tells the story of an expedition to a plateau in the Amazon basin of South America where prehistoric animals still survive. In the story, the hot-tempered Professor Challenger has organized an expedition to the wild jungles of South America. Together with a fellow scientist, a hunter, and a journalist, he makes his way to the plateau where they encounter creatures left over from another age.
