Located in south-central Idaho, City of Rocks encompasses extraordinary granite stone formations that rise up and out of otherwise unimposing, gently rolling, sagebrush-covered hills. The reserve was established to protect unique rock formations, but biologists have also noted the region’s distinct intersection of numerous wildlife ecosystems, a crossroads of significant biological diversity concentrated in a relatively small area.
