American College Towns: Oxford, Mississippi By Michael Korfhage, Joel Anderson, 2014

In 1837, the town of Oxford, Mississippi was founded and named after the British Oxford University, all in the hopes that the town would attract a state university of its own. Eleven years later, that wish was granted with the founding of the University of Mississippi in 1848. Nicknamed “Ole Miss,” the university has been a focal point of higher education for not just the state of Mississippi, but for the entire region too. Anderson Design Group created their own rendition of Oxford, an illustration that takes its inspiration from the WPA-commissioned artwork of the early-1900s. Show your city or university pride with a customizable framed art print, canvas banner, metal sign, or framed postcard. To learn more about the city, check out the Visit Oxford Mississippi website.
