Blue Ridge Parkway: Bird's Eye View By Mary Withers Kirkland, Joel Anderson, 2024
- Blue Ridge Parkway: Bird's Eye View
The Blue Ridge Parkway is easily one of the most beautiful sections of road in America, and the international fame the humble two-lane has generated is a testament to its beauty. The National Park Service that manages the parkway said it best, “A Blue Ridge Parkway experience is unlike any other: a slow-paced and relaxing drive revealing stunning long-range vistas and close-up views of the rugged mountains and pastoral landscapes of the Appalachian Highlands. The Parkway meanders for 469 miles, protecting a diversity of plants and animals, and providing opportunities for enjoying all that makes this region of the country so special.” It’s also worth mentioning that the parkway earned the title, “America’s Favorite Drive” as it connects Shenandoah National Park and Great Smoky Mountains National Park, two of the most popular parks in the nation. To celebrate the parkway in all its glory, Anderson Design Group collaborated with talented digital painter Mary Withers Kirkland to created this beautiful illustration of the mountain road. Mary's unique stylization, emotive clouds, and lyrical sense of color captures the placid beauty of the Parkway. This classic poster and landscape art will look great as a print, canvas, metal sign, or postcard. To learn more about the parkway, check out the Conservation Trust for North Carolina.
