Des Moines is the charming capital and the most populated city in Iowa. Incorporated on September 22, 1851, as Fort Des Moines, the name was shortened to "Des Moines" in 1857. It is located on, and named after, the Des Moines River, which was adapted from the early French name, Rivière des Moines, meaning "River of the Monks". Rendered by the award-winning artists of Anderson Design Group in the style of early 20th-Century travel posters, this classic design will look great as a framed print, canvas, metal sign, canvas banner, as a postcard or a notecard.
