Harpers Ferry National Historical Park: Maryland Heights
Harpers Ferry is visually stunning, set amid mountainous terrain carved into ridges and peninsulas by two mighty rivers that coalesce into one course. The confluence site is the ancestral home and sacred meeting place of the Tuscarora and Shawnee people. In 1859, Harpers Ferry set the scene for John Brown’s infamous abolitionist uprising. It later became the site of significant Civil War battles and the birthplace of the Niagara Movement, the precursor to the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. The unique landscape is visible from elevated positions. The Maryland Heights Trail offers hikers the opportunity to see many aspects of Harpers Ferry NHP on one walk: spectacular scenery, geology, Civil War, industrial, and transportation history. A hand-rendered illustration styled after the vintage poster art of the 20th century, this design is available as a poster, framed print, metal sign, canvas, or as a set of notecards or postcards. This original national park art and travel art would look great on any wall in the home, or at the workplace.
