Founded in 1565 by Pedro Menéndez de Avilés, St. Augustine is known for being the oldest city in the United States! In fact, the exact claim to fame that the city has is as the, “Oldest Continuously Occupied City and Port Established by Europeans in the Continental United States.” As soon as visitors enter the city, they can see that history in all its wonder, and that's because the custodians of the city have done a marvelous job of preserving the now almost 500 year-old Spanish colonial architecture! In fact, some of the buildings have been restored dozens of times to maintain their timeless beauty and historic continuity. Inspired by the chapels, bazaars, ancient military structures, bridges, and courtyards of this truly historic gem, Anderson Design Group poster artists hand-rendered vintage travel art of the city, a colorful, sunset rendition styled after the classic designs of the mid-20th century. To learn more about the city or to plan a vacation there (don’t forget to bring your camera!), be sure to check out the website for Visit St. Augustine.
