West Virginia: New River Gorge By Michael Korfhage, Joel Anderson, 2015
- West Virginia: New River Gorge
Completed in 1977, the New River Gorge Bridge made travel across a major Virginia thoroughfare far easier. The previous road wound down into the gorge and back out again, a 40 minute drive. Now, with the bridge in place, travelers can cross the gorge in less than a minute. The gorge bridge is the longest steel-span bridge in the U.S. and the third tallest. It is not only an incredible feat of engineering, itβs a work of art! Inspired by the creation, the effort, the engineering, and the design that went into the bridge, Anderson Design Group handcrafted a vintage travel poster of the bridge, styling the poster with influences from mid-century WPA-commissioned artwork.
