Most people don’t know it but the city of Williamsburg actually served as the state capital for Virginia from 1699 to 1780. Today, the city offers a colonial town, a 301 acre section of the city which employs over 3,000 people to work, act, dress, and appear as though they were living in the colonial era. What’s more, city managers, preservation groups, and historical societies have preserved and restored about 80 of the original, colonial-era buildings. Inspired by that dedication to history and preservation, Anderson Design Group artists hand-sketched and colored a vintage travel poster of the city’s capitol building, an excellent piece of retro artwork that itself draws its inspiration from an earlier time. You can order this artwork for the history buff in your circle, or hang it from your wall as a special keepsake. To learn more about Williamsburg check out the website for Visit Williamsburg.
