Valhalla transcends the boundary between mythology and religion, as it appeared under both classifications at different points in history. In Norse mythology, where it originated, Valhalla was described as a majestic hall in Asgard, presided over by the god Odin. It was a place where warriors would go if they died in combat, and that viewpoint gave the Scandinavians a widespread cultural belief that nothing is more glorious than death in battle.
