An epic tale that has stood the test of time for centuries, The Iliad is one of the oldest existing works of literature that is still widely read by modern readers. Homer's Iliad tells the story of the darkest episode of the Trojan War, which most likely took place around 1200 B.C. At its center is Achilles, the greatest warrior-champion of the Greeks, and his conflict with his leader, Agamemnon. The story is one of action and adventure, but also of hardship and misery.
