Hanukkah is a Rabbinic Jewish festival commemorating the recovery of Jerusalem and subsequent rededication of the Second Temple at the beginning of the Jewish Maccabean Revolt against the Seleucid Empire in the 2nd century BCE. Anderson Design Group is thrilled to announce the release of a mini-series of seasonal greetings! This series focuses on the beauty and kindness of greeting cards, sending tangible keepsakes—like a message, by mail, to a family member, loved one, or friend. Greeting cards celebrate a time before the digital age, when "snail mail" was a primary mode of correspondence, when calligraphy was something taught in school and perfected through adulthood, and when individuals developed meaningful connections with others through card stock, fountain pens, envelopes, and stamps. Today, greeting cards depict artwork that is often of a vintage style of its own kind, as the age of the internet has created new forms of written communication that are more convenient yet perhaps less meaningful. Our artists and illustrators still believe there is something special (perhaps even more special now) about writing a handwritten note and sending it in a physical notecard or postcard to someone who means the most. This greeting card is a beautiful collaboration between Anderson Design Group and talented Mod artist Annie Cauffman, designed to celebrate the joyous time that is December's holiday season. For inspiration on what to write in your greeting card, check out the website Earth Greetings.
