“Windy City” is easily the most well-known nickname for America’s third-largest city. The common explanation for the nickname is a reference to the icy gusts that blow off of Lake Michigan and come streaking down the city streets of Chicago. But the locals like to say it's called the Windy City after the “Blowing of hot air” from the city’s politicians! Either way, our illustrators at the ADG Store appreciate a little cultural history, so we drew and colored this early-1900s illustration of the city and the winds coming off of Lake Michigan. Show off your favorite town with a full-sized vintage art print or canvas banner, or opt for a set of postcards or notecards to conserve on wall space. And to learn more about the city, click on over to the Chicago Visitor Center.
