Carlsbad Caverns National Park is home to a mystery that has puzzled scientists for decades. The fossilized skeleton of a giant sloth creature was found 400 feet below the ground inside the caverns. Estimates suggest the creature's bones are 110,000 years old, placing the beast as being alive during the last Ice Age. While evidence of the sloth creature's existence in the caves is undeniable, endless questions remain. How did it get there? No one knows for sure. Did it live there? Almost definitely not. But then, how did it find its way 400 feet below ground? The questioning becomes circular, and thus the mystery persists to this day. Anderson Design Group poster artists hand-rendered a vintage-styled poster of what we think this creature might have looked like. This classic monster design and vintage poster art is available as a poster print, canvas, metal sign, mini-canvas, or as a notecard or postcard. The National Park Service in charge of maintaining and preserving Carlsbad Caverns National Park published their best explanation for how the creature got into the caves.
