Mythical Creatures: Golem (Czech Republic) By Derek Anderson, Joel Anderson, 2024

Golems have appeared in numerous mythological stories over the years, but most legends trace the creature back to Jewish folklore. According to those stories, the golem is an animated, anthropomorphic being created entirely of inanimate matter, often clay, mud, rocks, or sand. Accounts vary, but many historians agree the most famous golem narrative involves Judah Loew ben Bezalel, the late 16th-century rabbi of Prague, in the Czech Republic. Judah is said to have made a creature formed of dust and clay and to have brought it to life by ritual incantations and sequences of Hebrew letters. Evidence is difficult to come by, but it is believed some mystics still know the secrets to making the Golem come to life; to become a helper, a companion, or a rescuer of an imperiled Jewish community. Inspired by the ancient stories of these creatures, Anderson Design Group poster artists hand-rendered a vintage-styled poster of the mysterious golem legend, crafted in a fashion that’s reminiscent of the golden age of poster art and vintage art. This classic monster design is available as a poster print, canvas, metal sign, mini-canvas, or as a notecard or postcard, including with multiple size options available for the prints, canvases, mini-canvases, and metal signs.
