The sphinx is a mythical creature with the head of a man and the body of a lion that appears in Egyptian, Greek, and Asian mythology. In ancient Egypt, sphinxes were often depicted as male figures wearing a pharaoh's headdress, called a nemes, and were considered spiritual guardians. They were often included in temple and tomb complexes. Sphinxes are also known for being strong, protective, and dominant.
