3 New Kenneth Crane National Park Posters...

Our collaboration with Colorado artist Kenneth Crane is going very well. From the beginning, the goal was to publish 2-3 new poster designs each month until we've covered all 61 of our National Parks. Kenneth just finished 3 new designs: Acadia, Badlands, and Joshua Tree. These new posters fit perfectly into the 13 designs he's already completed.

We thought you might enjoy a little peek behind the scenes to see how these new designs came to be...

Step 1: Kenneth (based in Colorado Springs) does his research and then shows some rough concept sketches to Joel (based in Nashville.) They talk about the options by phone or email and agree on a finalist. Joel might make a suggestion or two, but Kenneth—being the amazing artist that he is—usually nails the concept every time.

Step 2: Once the sketches are approved, Kenneth renders each design, using digital pens and brushes just like he would use traditional art supplies—only he has unlimited opportunities to edit and tweak his art along the way. (He also has no paint to spill or brushes to clean!) Kenneth records his work as he produces each new design. Then he speeds up the video to let us see his process from start to finish. Here are videos of these 3 posters in-progress...

Step 3: After Kenneth finishes each illustration, he sends the layered digital file to Joel, who places the illustration into the standard ADG poster format with our universal border so the art can be reproduced on ready-to-frame prints, canvases, metal signs, canvas banners, calendars, postcards, note cards, and more. Joel raves about how easy it is to adapt Kenneth's art for use in decorating homes, offices, and the lives of people who are passionate about our National Parks. "The art in this series is magical, inspiring, and flat out gorgeous. It's no surprise that Kenneth's 2020 wall calendar is one of our most popular items this year!"
