United States Armed Forces: Army

About the Art
Part of the history of the United States is this country’s many accomplishments abroad. One such
accomplishment was the establishment of Yongsan Army Garrison in Seoul, South Korea. This base
has actually served as a military fortification as far back as 1882. In the century-plus years since then,
several militaries have occupied it. Even today, the United States Army is negotiating to disembark
from the base, intending to hand the base over to the South Korean Armed Forces. Such is an act of
diplomacy and teamwork of two nations working together to keep the peace on this once heavily-
contested peninsula. Anderson Design Group saluted those efforts in their own way, by hand-
illustrating this American Travel poster in a style nostalgic of the early 1900s. To read up on news
articles relating to the base, visit the U.S. Army Garrison Yongsan.
