American College Towns: College Station, TX
2015 By Michael Korfhage, Joel Anderson
About the Art
College Station, Texas is home to the famous Texas A&M University. This city is truly a “college
town,” even getting its name from the massive university presence within the city. College Station is further
supported by the university in that the school brings multiple grant programs to the city from NASA,
the Office of Naval Research, and the National Institutes of Health. College Station earned its place in
Joel Anderson’s American College Towns mini-series. This illustration, (likened after the Golden Age
of Illustration techniques of the mid-20th century), brings out a nostalgia for the city, for the university,
and for the history of both. Remember a trip to this city or courses taken at the university with a canvas
banner of this vintage American Travel art. To learn more about the city, check out the Bryan College
Station Convention and Visitors Bureau.
