About the Art
Named “Mako Sica” (land bad) by the Lakota Indians, the Badlands offer breathtaking, striated rock
formations and sweeping vistas of arid hills intermixed with grassland prairies. This huge national park
spans 244,000 acres of eroded buttes and pinnacles surrounded by prairie. It is one of the last, totally
untouched sections of land in the U.S. In this oil painting print by Kai Carpenter, a bison
cow and her calf traverse the plain, with the looming spires of the black hills rising up like sentinels
behind them. Badlands National Park prints by Anderson Design Group make perfect wall art for any lover of this untouched
South Dakota land.
