About the Art

Camp Nelson National Monument, formerly the Camp Nelson Civil War Heritage Park, is a 525-acre national monument, historical museum and park located 20 miles south of Lexington, Kentucky. The US Army established Camp Nelson as a fortified supply depot in April 1863. Over the next 3 years, the site evolved into a massive recruitment and training center for United States Colored Troops and a refugee camp for their families. It served as a shelter for civilians fleeing war and for enslaved people hoping to secure their freedom and aid in the destruction of slavery. Anderson Design Group poster artists hand-rendered this original illustration in the fashion of vintage poster art and classic travel art from the 20th Century. This retro design and original National Park art is available as a poster, print, canvas, mini canvas, metal sign, notecard, or postcard.

Our gorgeous art canvases are made-to-order on high-fidelity printers and stretched onto wood frames with hanging brackets installed. Each work of art features an original illustration by the talented, award-winning artists of Anderson Design Group.
