Capitol Reef: Bighorn Sheep
2022 By David Owens, Joel Anderson
About the Art
The Capitol Reef National Park has often been described as a “wrinkle on the earth.” The reef is
comprised of a linear progression of cliffs, canyons, domes, buttes, spires, and other geologic
formations. The park is sixty miles long, but only six miles wide. Truly a reef above water, visitors to
the park enjoy the most eye-catching of rock formations. In this national parks poster by Anderson
Design Group, we see visitors to the park approach an impressive rock formation which seems to bulge
from the earth completely on its own. Anderson Design Group collaborating artist David Owens captures this peaceful place perfectly in his loose, hand-rendered digital painting fashion. His rich color palettes and emotive style offer a fresh perspective on classic American travel scenes, providing a sense of nostalgia. Available as a poster, print, canvas, notecard, postcard, or metal sign, this artwork makes for a great souvenir or take-home gift from a trip to the park.
