Chicago: L Train
2010 By Andy Gregg, Joel Anderson
About the Art
One of Chicago's highlights that is fondly remembered by anyone who has visited the city without
automobile transportation is the famous L Train, a true accomplishment of engineering, architecture,
and creative design. A visitor to Chicago can travel almost anywhere in the city simply by using the L
Train. The train took its first route in 1892, and since then the rail system has grown to be the fourth
largest in the country and the second busiest, second only to the New York City subway. Our team at
Anderson Design hand-illustrated this American Travel poster art to commemorate the famous L Train,
using an illustration style reminiscent of the WPA-commissioned artwork of the 1910s to the 1930s. To
learn more about the Windy City trains, check out the Chicago Visitor Center.
