About the Art
Though the cicada swarms that show up once every few years can be called a lot of things, we like
to think of these winged wackies as symbols of love (if, albeit, pretty weird symbols). The cicada
spends most of its life underground, rooting around and living the good life. Then, once they reach
the end of their lifespan, the cicada bursts from the earth during the summer season to make love,
give birth to countless eggs, and then, sadly, perish. It’s a summer of love indeed, though it is the
only summer of love these bugs will ever experience. Inspired by a bug like no other, our vintage
poster art team hand-rendered a design that is fashioned after 1970s-style music poster art.
Available as a print, banner, canvas, or metal sign, this artwork is the next great addition to your
collection.
