France: Paris Gargoyle
2015 By David Anderson, Joel Anderson
About the Art
Did you know that the word “gargoyle” comes from French “gargouille” which means “throat”? That
would appear to take its inspiration from the statues’ water-siphoning gullets. But in actual fact, the
name comes from the French legend of “La Gargouille,” a fearsome dragon from French mythology.
Inspired by the thousands of gargoyles that crouch like sentinels on the roofs of Paris buildings,
Anderson Design Group crafted a vintage travel poster of one such gargoyle. Perfect for lovers of
French architecture and design, this retro artwork is available as an art print, canvas banner, framed
postcard, or as a set of notecards or postcards.
