Germany: Oktoberfest
2018 By Aaron Johnson, Joel Anderson
About the Art
Did you know that Oktoberfest is a 204-year old tradition? And that the festival started as a celebration
of the marriage of Prince Ludwig and Therese of Saxe-Hildburghausen, in 1810? It wasn’t until much
later that Oktoberfest became a beer festival. And the beer consumed during Oktoberfest is also quite
unique. It’s brewed specifically for Oktoberfest, for one thing. Oktoberfest beer isn't produced during
any other time of the year, and it's only sourced from German breweries. Lovers of a good celebration
and tradition, Anderson Design Group handcrafted a vintage travel poster of Oktoberfest, a colorful
illustration styled after the original designs of early-1900s travel art. Available as a canvas banner, art
print, or metal sign, this handcrafted artwork would make a great conversation starter or gift. To learn
more about Oktoberfest, check out the German National Tourist Board.
