About the Art
Welcome to Huntsville, Alabama, space town, the Rocket City, and a wealth of culture, history, and
excitement. First established by settlers in 1805, Huntsville began as a textile mill town, then a
munitions manufacturer, then a major military town, and finally a center for space research and flight
testing for NASA in the 1950s. To this day, the city is a major hub for high technology, a city
dedicated to continuing its pursuit of space travel and rocket science. Inspired by that dedication,
Anderson Design Group rendered a vintage travel poster by hand, using the WPA art styles of the mid-
century to create a wall decoration that inspires a reminiscent longing for this city and its important
history. To learn more about the city, check out the Huntsville Convention
& Visitors Bureau.
