About the Art

A walk through Kings Canyon National Park is likely to leave one feeling rather small, as this 460,000 acre national park is home to some of America’s largest sequoia trees. The park is mostly comprised of a huge canyon, Kings Canyon, which plunges more than a mile deep to the Kings River below. In this early-1900s hand-illustrated national parks poster by Anderson Design Group, we see the Zumwalt Valley, one of the largest areas of flat land in the park. Here the rich fields and verdant woods are home to a diverse panoply of wildlife, flora, and fauna alike that make their homes among the canyons and mountains of the Sierra Nevada. To learn more about the park and surrounding regions, visit the Sequoia Parks Conservancy.
