A country unique in many ways, Lesotho is a high-altitude, landlocked African kingdom entirely encircled by South Africa. The nation is crisscrossed by a network of rivers and mountain ranges, including the stunning, 3,482 meter-high peak of Thabana Ntlenyana. One of Lesotho's most striking landmarks is Maletsunyane Falls, a 192-meter-high waterfall. The waterfall is one of the most-photographed sites in all of Africa. It is located near the town of Semonkong, which is also named after the falls. The waterfall is located on the Maletsunyane River and it falls from a sheer ledge of Triassic-Jurassic basalt, a geologist’s dream!
