About the Art
Located on the Ohio River, Louisville, Kentucky is the largest and oldest city in the state. The city was
founded in 1778 as a portage site to allow river traffic to bypass the nearby Falls of the Ohio waterfall
system. Today, Louisville is known for being the home of Kentucky Friend Chicken, bourbon
distilleries, Louisville Slugger baseball bats, and the Kentucky Derby. Louisville’s downtown district
features several historic buildings and parks plus lots of fine dining opportunities just walking distance
