About the Art

A combination of an arid climate and almost absolute protection from the elements has allowed for the Ancestral Puebloan villages of Mesa Verde National Park to maintain their original structure for hundreds of years. Native Americans of this region made their homes among the rocky cliff faces of Colorado’s many canyons for 700 years, from approximately 600 to 1300 BC. That makes these structures some of the oldest still standing in North America. In this original Anderson Design Group poster, oil painter Kai Carpenter illustrated the history of these dwellings, depicting a vacationing couple gazing upon the ancient structures. Order this national parks poster art as a canvas banner, vintage print, or metal sign. And to learn more about the park, visit the Mesa Verde Foundation.
