About the Art

Tulum, Mexico is the site of what was once a prominent Mayan city, an entirely walled and fortified city which served as a major port in the pre-Columbian era. Coincidentally, Tulum was one of the last Mayan cities to fall to European settlers, with the last surviving Mayans not departing the city until 70 years after the Spanish first began settling Central America. Today, Tulum is a popular tourist attraction, and one can see why. The fortified city rests upon vertical cliffs, forty feet up from the ocean, offering excellent views of the sea. Inspired by the history and beauty of the ancient town, Anderson Design group crafted vintage travel poster art of the historic city, a bold image of the ruins and the surrounding cliffs.
