The largest country on the Isthmus of Panama, Nicaragua is famous for many unique features. Granada, a popular city, is the oldest city (founded in 1524) on continental Latin America. Nicaragua is also known for its massive lakes, Lake Managua and Lake Nicaragua. These lakes are not only prime attractions for tourists, but the lakes are also the centers for much of the economic activity in the country.
