About the Art

Did you know that, according to a local legend, the city of Phoenix got its name from a Cambridge- educated pioneer by the name of Darrell Duppa? Darrell came across the ruins and prehistoric canals of the Hohokam Indians in the same region where the city would soon be built and he named the area Phoenix, for he truly believed a new civilization would rise from the ruins, just as the Phoenix bird rises from the ashes of its own flame. Inspired by the city’s namesake and the legend behind it, Anderson Design Group crafted an American Travel illustration of the Phoenix skyline and the nearby Phoenix Mountains. This vintage travel poster art is available as a framed print, canvas banner, metal sign, or framed postcard. To learn more about this city in the Valley of the Sun, check out Visit Phoenix.
