About the Art

Plum Island is an 11-mile-long barrier island off the northeastern coast of Massachusetts, located about 35 miles north of Boston. Known for its wild beach plums, sandy dunes, and purple sands, it is split between the towns of Newbury and Newburyport. It is primarily famous for the Parker River National Wildlife Refuge, which covers over 4,700 acres and serves as a vital resting spot for hundreds of migratory bird species. The historic Plum Island Lighthouse (also known as the Newburyport Harbor Light) is located at 263 Northern Boulevard in Newburyport, Massachusetts. Built in 1898, the 45-foot wooden tower features a rare, original 1856 fourth-order Fresnel lens. The grounds are open year-round, with seasonal tower climbs available. The artists of Anderson Design Group have created this vintage-style American travel poster to look great as a print, canvas, postcard, metal sign, or note card.
