Sense And Sensibility: Jane Austen
2026 By Aaron Johnson, Joel Anderson
About the Art
Sense and Sensibility is Jane Austen's first published novel (1811), a comedy of manners that follows the contrasting lives of the Dashwood sisters, Elinor (sense/reason) and Marianne (sensibility/emotion), as they navigate love, heartbreak, and societal expectations in Regency England after their family's financial hardship forces them to move. The story contrasts Elinor's reserved prudence with Marianne's passionate romanticism, exploring themes of love, marriage, and the need for a balance between sense and sensibility for true happiness. The artists of Anderson Design Group rendered this iconic book cover design as a part of the Literary Classics Collection, celebrating great books of all genres via original poster art. This retro illustrated design is available as a poster, print, notecard, postcard, canvas, or metal sign.
