About the Art
Built in 1904 and displaying vintage architecture styles reminiscent of the Romanesque period, the
Toledo Harbor Lighthouse has served as a major Toledo landmark for over a century. This lighthouse
rests at the entrance to the Toledo Harbor, one of 400 lighthouses that dot the shores of the Great Lakes.
While the lighthouse has been decommissioned for some time, July 2019 marked the first meeting of
the Toledo Harbor Lighthouse Preservation Society to discuss the full restoration of the historic
building. Lovers of lighthouses and all they represent, Anderson Design Group created this vintage
travel poster art of the lighthouse, handcrafting the artwork in the style of the WPA-commissioned
works that would have been in vogue when the lighthouse was first constructed. To learn more about
the lighthouse and other Toledo attractions, check out the Toledo
Harbor Lighthouse Preservation Society.
