West Virginia: New River Gorge
2015 By Michael Korfhage, Joel Anderson
About the Art
Completed in 1977, the New River Gorge Bridge made travel across a major Virginia thoroughfare far
easier. The previous road wound down into the gorge and back out again, a 40 minute drive. Now, with
the bridge in place, travelers can cross the gorge in less than a minute. The gorge bridge is the longest
steel-span bridge in the U.S. and the third tallest. It is not only an incredible feat of engineering, it’s a
work of art! Inspired by the creation, the effort, the engineering, and the design that went into the
bridge, Anderson Design Group handcrafted a vintage travel poster of the bridge, styling the poster
with influences from mid-century WPA-commissioned artwork. To learn more about the New River
Gorge and the best times to visit it, check out the website for the River Gorge Visitor Center.
Our gorgeous art canvases are made-to-order on high-fidelity printers and stretched onto wood frames with hanging brackets installed. Each work of art features an original illustration by the talented, award-winning artists of Anderson Design Group.
